FAAIM presents "Memory Into Flesh: A Tribute to the Performance & Activism of Anida Yoeu Ali", a multimedia conversation with the artist on stage about her energy, vision and conviction against what bell hooks terms "the white-supremacist-capitalist-patriarchy" from spoken word to graphic design to activism to writing to performance to motherhood on Saturday, April 10th from 6-7:30pm at the Gene Siskel Film Center.
FAAIM presents "Laura Kina: A Many-Splendored Thing", a retrospective featuring over thirty selected paintings, drawings and textiles (1995-present) from her Refrigerator, Hapa Soap Opera, Loving, Aloha Dreams, and Devon Avenue Sampler series as well as some early and new works from April 2nd through May 30th at the Gene Siskel Film Center Café Gallery.
Opening reception, Friday, April 2nd from 6-8pm.
FAAIM is hosting a special fundraiser to benefit the 15th Anniversary of the Asian American Showcase on Saturday, March 20th from 6-9pm at Andrew Bae Gallery with music, film, food, libations in celebration of very honored guests Anida Yoeu Ali and Laura Kina. $100 per person tickets are available for purchase here.
