Film Screening + Intergenerational Dialogue Workshop
Moderated by VìTÂM
Join us for a unique screening and dialogue event, featuring the documentary The Empathizer. On Saturday, September 26th, Haibayo and FAAIM will host an event featuring a 1 hour screening of The Empathizer followed by intimate, thought-provoking discussions with the filmmakers and attendees.
The Empathizer features a variety of perspectives on Vietnam, the diaspora, and how Vietnamese people contend with their past and present. The post-screening workshop will give attendees the unique opportunity to discuss themes from the film, as well as share and hear perspectives of fellow community members across different generations, and with different experiences and perspectives.
Small bites and refreshments will be provided, and the program will be facilitated by VìTÂM, a nonprofit organization that focuses on creating resources and spaces for challenging dialogues in the Vietnamese community.
Why This Conversation Matters
This isn’t a standard post-film Q&A—it’s an opportunity to engage in conversations about topics in the Vietnamese community rarely, if ever discussed. And better yet, we aim to have this be a multi-generational event.
Spots are limited, and this event will fill up fast.
